Set your base camp at the Lost Horse Creek Lodge and mountainbike to some of the most breathtaking views and trails available in Montana. Local sales, repairs and additional trail information is available at nearby Red Barn Bicycles in Hamilton.


Here are just a few of the local trails available. A back country road from the Lost Horse takes you down to Lake Como while Lost Horse Creek Road provides easy access to all the Bitterroot National Forest has to offer. Please note that designated wilderness areas are off-limits to mountain biking.

Lake Como Looplake como loop

Intermediate to Advanced. A beautiful 8 mile loop around Lake Como with swimming and picknicking areas at the end of the ride. This trail officially starts at Trailhead 502, with riding west around the north shore of Lake Como. After 2.5 miles turn left at the intersection and cross the bridge near the west end of the lake to get on Trail 580. Continue around to the south side of the lake to the parkinglot near the boat launch. You can continue across the dam to head back north to the lodge, or if you parked at Lake Como, head back out to Hwy 93 on Lake Como Road.

Lost Horse Observation Pointlost horse observation point

Intermediate to Advanced. 2 miles from the lodge, this is a 7 mile loop up Road 496 to Lost Horse Observation Point. This popular destination offers a chance to eat lunch and take in the views of the Lost Horse draw and nearby mountains. Geocachers can make a quick find at the point and log their visit if you bring your GPS. On your way back down take the Moose Ridge Road for a moderate to steep downhill ride to Road 406.
